Examinations
Formal examinations begin on Wednesday,January 25. All students are expected to attend their final examination. If a student misses an exam for medical or significant reasons (for example, a death in the family, a court appearance, or citizenship) a medical certificate and/or the appropriate documentation must be provided, clearly stating the reason for the absence. A medical certificate must be signed by a medical doctor licensed to practice in Ontario, list all consecutive days the student was absent and state clearly that the student was too ill to write the exam on the date the exam was scheduled. A statement merely stating a report of illness made by the student is not acceptable. Vacation or family trips DO NOT constitute a valid reason for missing an exam. Teachers will determine the final mark for students who legitimately miss final examinations, based on their professional judgement in consultation with the school administration.
Secondary Out-of-Area Admissions
Students who reside within the City of Toronto have the right to attend a school which is designated to serve their residential address. The "Find Your School" section of the website identifies the designated schools for each residential address.
Students also have the opportunity to access schools outside of the school that is designated to serve their home address by applying for Out-of-Area Admissions. Acceptance at these schools is subject to space availability and program suitability. Find more information and details here.
If you are interested in attending a school other than your designated school by address, each student can submit one online application. When applying for Out-of-Area admissions in September 2023, applicants may include up to two (2) school choices in their application.
If applying to two (2) schools, the choices must be ranked. Each application will be considered equally (adhering to the random selection priorities). Applicants selected for their first choice will not be considered for their second choice.
