Principal's Message

Kingsview Village is a vibrant and positive school with a very dedicated and experienced staff, and a tremendously supportive parent council and community. Our school is at the heart of the community and it is my good fortune and privilege to be the Principal at Kingsview Village Junior School.

My previous experiences are that I was an elementary teacher for 17 years in the TDSB, teaching Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5. I also taught French and was a librarian and computer lab instructor for several years. I have been a mathematics instructional leader for Kindergarten - Grade 6 teachers in the TDSB, and more recently was Vice Principal at Flemington Public School, and then Principal at Lawrence Heights Middle School, before becoming Principal at Kingsview Village Junior School beginning in January of 2017.

I am very excited about this 2019-2020 school year! We will continue to focus on improving student achievement in mathematics through ongoing professional development opportunities for our staff insuring strong math programs in our classrooms; offering after school support for Grades 3, 4 and 5 students in our Math Clubs; and online mathematics homework for all students using the Mathletics program. We have a strong focus on reading instruction in all of our classrooms, and provide additional support through our Reading Recovery program in Grade 1, our library program, and special education programs. We also have an extensive amount of additional support available to support students with special needs, and can access the many supports and services that are available through the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). Technology continues to transform all areas of our lives, and considerable resources are devoted to integrating electronic devices and resources into all of our classrooms.

Kingsview Village staff as well as our parent council offer a wide range of additional programs for our students in sports, the arts, environmental stewardship, Future Aces and character education, and robotics, to name but a few programs that serve to further our students education, health, well-being, and engagement in education. We are also fortunate to be a part of the TDSB’s Model Schools program and benefit from additional resources which serve to enhance all aspects of our school.

Please feel free to contact me at the school at any time, and best wishes to all of our students, staff, parents and school community for a successful school year.
