Our magnificent mural

Located in the main foyer, grade 5 and 6 students at Withrow worked with artist Nancy King (Chief Lady Bird) to learn more about Indigenous people and to create a beautiful mural honouring Indigenous culture.  The mural has Turtle Island at the centre and the Toronto cityscape, as seen from where our school is located at Bain and Broadview. A black snake below symbolizes the pipeline and its impact on the environment. Mother Nature at left oversees water, earth, and sky. Otter and pike are seen as part of the cycle of life and Chief Lady Bird’s artistic influences, Daphne Odjig and Annie Pootoogook, are represented at the top right and left.
