Another exciting week at John English, filled with athletic achievements, student leadership, civic engagement, and opportunities for learning and growth!
🏃♂️ Our Cross-Country athletes made us incredibly proud, with one runner ranking among the fastest at the meet and many students advancing to the City Finals! 🏈 Our Boys' Football team continues its winning streak and is moving on to the next round of competition. Congratulations to all our athletes and coaches for their dedication, teamwork, and determination!
🗳️ Our students have also been participating in Student Vote, an opportunity to learn about democracy, explore the electoral process, and experience the importance of having a voice in their community.
🎓 We also hosted an Open House Information Session for our Grade 7 and 8 students and families, providing valuable information to support students as they explore their educational pathways and prepare for the exciting transitions ahead.

🇫🇷 📚 Early French Immersion | Application Process ✏️ 📝
The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) would like to share information about Early French Immersion with you and your families. The entry point to Early French Immersion for the September 2027-28 school year is Junior Kindergarten.
The application to the Early French Immersion program will remain an online process managed by the Central Program Admissions Office, and applications must be completed online between November 2 and November 27, 2026. Currently, all eligible on-time applicants are guaranteed an offer of placement in the program (not a specific school). Families with an older sibling currently in an Early French Immersion program at the same school are still required to complete an online application for the new student. At any time, please visit the TDSB French Language Programs webpage to view a video that provides information about the TDSB French Language programs as well as the application and placement process in the Early French Immersion and the Middle French Immersion programs. More information about the Early Immersion Program is available in 22 languages, or view the application video. Please share this information in all modalities possible with your school communities.

🎃 HALLOWEEN DRESS-UP 🎃
Dear Families,
If you are a family who acknowledges and participates in Halloween. Be reminded that as your child plans their Halloween costume, please help them choose outfits that follow the TDSB Student Dress guidelines and support a safe, respectful school environment.
Cultures are not costumes. Using another culture’s clothing, sacred items or stereotypes as a costume is cultural appropriation and can cause hurt and harm. Please discuss costume choices with your child so everyone feels respected and included.
⚠️ For safety, weapons and replica weapons, costume face masks, and full-face paint are not permitted. Students’ faces must remain visible and easily identifiable.
🎃 HALLOWEEN PARADE — FAMILIES WELCOME! 🎃
Our Kindergarten–Grade 6 students will begin their parade at 1:20 p.m. at the residential gate, walk around the school’s perimeter, and return to the back schoolyard.

Families are welcome to line the streets along the route. Please keep the students’ walking path clear.
🌧️ If it rains: Families are welcome to gather in the gymnasium. Our indoor parade will travel through the cafeteria so families can see every class!

John English's parents can now pay student-related fees online. To access the online service, parents can visit https://tdsb.schoolcashonline.com. Parents will need to select "Get Started Today" and select a password. You will also need the school board name (TDSB), the school name, your child's name, and your child's birth date. Once you have created your account, you will be ready to pay online.
Bus Route Information for 2026-2027
The TDSB has launched a new transportation portal that provides families with specific information about their child’s bus service. When parents sign up, they can identify the bus company name and phone number serving their family, the route number, the bus stop location, and the associated times. In addition, enrollment sends an email alert when bus routes are delayed.
