Grade 8 students transitioning to Secondary School have considerably more options available to them than were available 15 to 20 years ago.  As a result of this increased level of choice, there is a greater responsibility upon our Grade 8 students to gather information about the process and the schools available to them.  Much of the planning for Grade 9 occurs in the months of October and November. 

In late October or early November, parents and students are invited to a transition information session and are made aware of Secondary School Open House dates.  We urge all involved to take advantage of these opportunities to ensure that choices for Grade 9 are done in an informed manner. 

The documents below provide further detail and information about the process and options for students.  Our guidance counsellor, Ms. Bryer, will continue to work with our Grade 8 students to prepared them for the decisions about their future. 

Please be aware that February 1 is the normal deadline date for applications to optional programs in Secondary Schools.
