Graduation Coaches for Black Students in High Schools
Graduation Coaches for Black Students are instrumental within the work of the Centre of Excellence. They engage with students(Gr.9-12) from the African/Black diaspora in various initiatives and graduation pathway opportunities. The
team actively work to improve Black Students’ mental health and well-being. They collaborate with school administrators, educators, post-secondary institutions. The work includes connecting Black students and families to community resources to support their educational achievement and improve overall academic success in schools.
Graduation Coach Program Objectives
- Support the transition from grade 8 to high school then to their chosen pathway
- Support with credit accumulation
- Offer mentorship and advocacy to Black High School students
- Network with community partners and agencies
- Provide opportunities to participate in education field trips
