Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! We hope that all students will have a successful year and continue to grow and thrive at Birchmount Park CI.

We are pleased to announce 3 new programs  beginning in September at BPCI. We have posted information on the website under Specialized Programs and we invite you to take a look to learn more about the these new programs. We have posted a lot of information regarding our SHSM programs.
1. Special Education: Gifted. We are welcoming our first class of Grade 9 students this year. The Gifted program will grow in the years ahead as we add Grade 10, 11, and 12 programs.
2. Specialized High Skills Major (SHSM) - Health & Wellness.
3. Specialized High Skills Major (SHSM) - Manufacturing.

Success comes in many different forms but always starts with the business of earning credits. Regular and punctual attendance is the single most important part of setting the stage for earning credits. Students who are in class each and every day have a significantly greater chance of earning all their credits in each semester.

Time management and organizations skills are developed over time before they become habits. Students often rely on their oral memory to remember homework, assignments or assessments. Leaning to use an agenda or a Personal Electronic Device to record key tasks and important due dates is a life skill that will support success in school as well as in other aspects of a student's personal life. It sounds boring - but writing it down helps to train the brain to remember!

School life beyond the classroom often motivates students and provides a purpose for the day. I encourage students to get involved as much as possible in the many co-curricular activities that are offered. Students should to listen for daily announcements for information about clubs, leaderships groups, teams, arts activities and other student-led events.

Our students are truly our future.  A well rounded student balances academics, co-curricular activities, work, social and family life to be the best that they can be. And that is what we all hope for for each student at Birchmount Park C.I.
