Dear Families,

We hope you're doing well. As we celebrate May 14th, the International Day of Families, to recognize the importance of families in our lives and society, let’s begin by sending gratitude this weekend on May 12 to our Mothers, Grandmothers, Mother figures, and all Loving Caregivers in our lives. We want to take this opportunity to thank all Bowmore families for helping us create a vibrant and diverse school community.

We're thrilled to announce that we have a busy week planned at Bowmore. Starting on Monday, May 13th, 2024, we will be holding the Bowmore Olympics, with a rain date of May 15th. During this event, students will take part in various Olympic and Paralympic events and will be supervised by parent volunteers and grade 7 and 8 volunteers. We hope this event will encourage everyone to be more active, have fun, and prepare for the upcoming track and field events. The track and field qualifying meet takes place on May 16th, 2024, at Birchmount Stadium.

Finally, on Friday, May 17th, 2024, our Bowmore Falcons baseball team will compete in the Inaugural Indigenous Spring Classic Tournament organized by the Blue Jays Cares Foundation. This year, we became a Jays Care Community Partner to provide students with more opportunities to participate in sports events and offer safe, accessible, and inclusive programming to all students. The tournament will take place at Stan Wadlow Park from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, and we would love to see you there. Thank you for your continued support.

Best,

Georgia, Jacquie, Kosta

Library Updates

Bowmore will be having its annual Used Book Sale. The sale will be held in the library the week of June 11-14th 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M.. We are collecting previously loved books in excellent used condition until June 10th. You may bring items to the office or bring them directly to the library.

We are also accepting books for adults and puzzles! Items can be purchased with cash only and prices will be marked for selling.  A win win... clear out your house and our students/families can get great books for great prices. Any unsold books will be donated. Funds raised will be used to purchase more books and comfortable furniture for the library. #Shelfies will have direct input on purchases.

If you are able to volunteer during the sale (even an hour or two helps!), please contact Leah Jarvis at leah.mcnabjarvis@tdsb.on.ca

Milk Bag Mattresses

As you know, our Bowmore students have been busy in the library weaving milk bags together to form mattresses. We recently completed FOUR mattresses and they were dropped off for delivery. We were told that they are being shipped to El Salvador! Thank you to everyone for donating milk bags and thank  you to the students who have worked hard on this project. We will continue to work on more mattresses until  the end of the year. A big thank you to our parent volunteer, Kate, who drove the mattresses to Mississauga for delivery. https://milkbagsunlimited.ca/

Lost or Damaged Books

Please take some time to look for any library books at home. We have many that are overdue. Overdue slips will be sent home and we would love a clear record. If a book is lost or damaged, please contact Leah Jarvis to remove the item from your child's account. Families are welcome to donate a new book to replace it or send in a gift card to purchase a new one but it is optional. There are no official late or lost fees. Thank you for helping your child return all our library books.

Thank you for supporting Bowmore's amazing library,

Leah Jarvis and the #Shelfies
