Dear Bowmore Families,
This week was a busy one as we had the book fair happening every day.We wanted to extend our appreciation to Bowmore Parent Andrea Maugham who volunteered in our book fair every day, all day, until the last day! And I have to say I have never seen a more organized set-up from our Bowmore Literacy Committee to support our Snuggle Up and Read Literacy Night on Wed. January 24, 2024. This event featured New York Times Best Selling Author SK Ali who read her recently published picture book. SK Ali presented the author process for writing a picture book and that everything begins with a thought. She shared her personal experience with bullying and the importance of creating a kind world through her picture book, “The Kindest Red”.

Pizza Lunch was a hit on Friday Jan. 26, 2024 and big thank you to Jessica Dexter who spends countless hours coordinating our parents and student volunteers so that all our students are served pizza in record time. Thank you Bowmore parents for supporting our pizza lunch initiative.
Bowmore Caring and Safe Committee
We have established a committee that comprises of: students, teachers, administrators and parents/guardians/caregivers. In December 2023, we sent an anonymous survey to the student, teacher and parents/guardians/caregivers communities. We have met to review and summarize the survey's findings.
The goals of the committee are to address issues and find ways to help the school to …
-
Improve student safety and sense of security
-
Promote student well being
-
Foster a sense of belonging
-
Improve communication to build awareness and trust
Student survey findings: developing more sense of belonging.
Teacher survey findings: facilities concerns and mental health & well being initiative.
Parent survey findings: bathrooms, bullying and physical violence and communication.
Initiatives, recommendations and strategies will be shared as they are developed and implemented.
