The Elementary Term 1 Report Card / Kindergarten Communication of Learning for your child will be sent home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. This report card is an important reflection of your child’s progress and achievements throughout the first term. In addition to the report cards, we have scheduled Parent-Teacher interviews for Thursday, February 15, 2024, in the evening and Friday, February 16, 2024, in the morning. These interviews are a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and to strengthen the partnership between home and school. Teachers may have reached out to parents directly to schedule appointments. If you have questions about your child’s learning and would like to make an appointment please reach out to the classroom teacher as appointments are available through our online link https://parentinterview.com/s/bowmore and Parent Code 8classroom20.

Bowmore Caring and Safe Schools Message

The highest priority at the Toronto District School Board is the safety, security and well-being of the students and staff in TDSB schools and workplaces.

Many elements go into the creation of caring, safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces. The most critical component is working through relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to build positive school climates where students and staff feel valued and cared for irrespective of identity or social standing.

PR694 section 4.3(a) outlines the necessary steps for administrators and schools to undertake with regards to consultation with stakeholders as part of this process (i.e.. school and student councils, etc.). While not the most important element in the creation of a positive school climate, security camera systems play a part in making schools and workplaces safer.  Please join our Bowmore School Council Meeting on February 26, 2024 at 6pm as part of the agenda will be the consultation process with our community for security cameras.

Bowmore Caregiver Workshop: Social Media and Online Safety

Hello Bowmore families,

Bowmore School Council is hosting an important event for Bowmore Parents and Caregivers on March 1st, and we want to make sure that you are aware of it.

On Friday, March 1st, Bowmore School Council will be hosting a Social Media and Online Safety speaker. Paul Davis will speak to students in Gr 4-6 and Gr 7-8 during the day, and in the evening, he will speak to the parents and caregivers from 6 pm-7:30 pm in the Sr Gym. This will be a free event. The speaker has told us that the session will be relevant to parents and caretakers of students from Kindergarten to Grade 8, he believes the sooner we are equipped, the better.

Please note that the evening session will deal with some serious topics and may not be appropriate for children, so free childcare will be provided. We would like to invite you to attend the evening session. You will also receive an RSVP email on Monday. We ask that you take a minute to RSVP so that we can be prepared and also have enough childminders booked.

If you have any questions, you can email bowmoresc@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support!

Sikh Heritage Month at the TDSB: Poster and Video Challenge

Sikh Heritage Month has been proudly recognized at the Toronto District School Board during the month of April.

As part of the celebration to mark Sikh Heritage Month, all TDSB students are invited to be creative and demonstrate your talent in one of the following ways! All elementary school students from kindergarten to grade 8 are invited to create a poster, infographic text, etc. on paper or digital and all secondary school students from grades 9 to 12 are invited to create and submit a short information video, spoken word, poetry, etc., (1 to 2 min) related to theme of "Chardi Kala" (The Positive and Uplifted Site of Mind).

According to Sikh beliefs, "Chardi Kala" is a state of mind that radiates positive energy, optimistic attitude, and virtuosity. With true belief in the supreme power of God and the oneness of humanity, this state of mind can pave a way for the well-being and happiness of all.

Please see the attached for full details about eligibility and prizes. The winning entries for first place (poster and video separately) in the three divisions (K to 4; Grades 5 to 8, and Grades 9 to 12) will receive a $100 Gift Card from Chapters/Indigo.
