Hello Bowmore!

Days of Significance: This year, based on the moon sighting, Hajj will start on June 14, with Eid al-Adha being celebrated on June 16. Hajj, one of the largest annual Muslim gatherings, occurs in Mecca from the eighth to the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar. The Day of Arafah is an Islamic holiday that falls on the ninth day of Dhu al-Hijjah of the lunar Islamic Calendar. It is the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and is followed by the holiday of Eid al-Adha. Eid al-Adha, commonly translated as the Feast of Sacrifice, is the second of the two main Islamic holidays alongside Eid al-Fitr.

On Sunday, June 16, we celebrate Caregiver Day. Inclusive celebrations can serve as important learning experiences by providing opportunities to discuss and acknowledge the many kinds of families in our communities and the many caregivers who are in students’ lives.

Pride Walk—We would like to give a big shout out to all the QSA Members who led the K-2 Pride Walk! They made sure the students safely crossed the streets and cheered on the younger students. Your leadership and advocacy are greatly appreciated!

The Nest - Ojibwa Word of the Week is “Jidamoonh,” which means “Squirrel.”

Library—Ms. Jarvis: Thank you to everyone who donated books and who visited the used book sale. We raised just under $2000.00, which will be used to buy more bean bag chairs and a puzzle table. All library books are now due. Please return all books. Overdue slips will be delivered to classes early this week.

Have a wonderful day of learning!
