The Track and Field Season has finished for the year. Please check back in the Spring of 2014.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
A busy Track and Field season is suddenly upon us! I wanted to get you up to speed with what we, in the Physical Education and Athletics Department at Davisville, are up to in the coming 2-3 weeks. In your child’s physical education classes, we will be learning and practicing the body movement skills (ie: sprinting, jumping for distance) and tactics required to successfully perform a variety of track and field events. At the end of this
unit we will have a culminating event in the form of a Track and Field Day at Davisville!
All of our Davisville students, from
Grades 1-6, will be participating in the Davisville Track and Field meet. It will be organized as follows:
Wednesday May 1st
- Morning: Primary ONLY Meet (Grades 1-3)
- Afternoon: Junior ONLY Meet (Grades 4-6)
- Events: 100 metre Sprint, 200 metre Sprint, Standing Long Jump, Running Long Jump
Thursday May 2nd
- Morning: Junior Meet (Gr.4-6) continued
- Events: 400m Sprint, Triple Jump, Shot Put and 60 metre Hurdles
Friday May 17th
We will be choosing a
Grade 2-6 Davisville Track and Field Team based on the results from this meet. The top finishers from Grades 2-6 in each event will have the option to represent our school at
Birchmount Stadium. Please note that Grade 1 students
will not compete at this event). Details and permission forms will be handed out at a later date for those who qualify.
Thank you for your support!
Yours in physical and health literacy,
