The following clubs may run in the 2024-2025 school year:
Art Club
Do you have a desire to paint? Are you willing to continue some great projects begun in 2023-2024 in order to see them to the finish? If so, this art club is for you! Begins in January 2025. (Led by Ms. Hafner)
Chess Club
In this club, students in grade 7 and 8 gather weekly to enjoy chess games with their peers. This year, they will also compete in the 2nd annual chess competition in honour of Aaron Chen, a former JBT student, who loved to play chess. (Led by Mr. King)
Concert Band
Students who are part of the band program and are interested in learning more about music meet in the band room to practise advanced songs, and sometimes prepare to perform in front of the whole school when there is an assembly. If you are interested in music, and want to learn more about it, this is the club for you! (Led by Ms. Grunberg)
Eco Team
J.B Tyrrell is very eco-friendly, as we focus on carefully separating blue bin, garbage and compost in the cafeteria and in our classrooms. Every class will have an eco-representative who will assist in helping JBT become a more eco-friendly place! (TBD)
Glee Club
Do you love to sing? Do you love to dance? Do you enjoying performing with a group? If so, this group may be for you! This group performs at the winter and spring concert. (Led by Ms. Grunberg)
GSA
GSA, or Gay Straight Alliance, is trying to make sure that everyone is welcomed in the school regardless of their sexuality. They put aside their differences and come together as equals, and come up with ways to make everyone feel comfortable in and out of our school. (TBD)
Robotics
This team designs, programs and builds a robot to compete in challenges. Each year comes with a different set of challenges. You will commonly see this team working away in the room across from the office. (club not offered in 2024-2025)
Strings Orchestra
If you are in the strings program and are interested in learning more about strings, you’re in luck! Ms. Grunburg runs the Strings Orchestra after school for students who have a passion and interest in string instruments. They practise and perform all types of songs, sometimes in front of the whole school! (Led by Ms. Grunberg)
Student Parliament
Every class has a student representative. The representative will go to meetings, and organize events for the school. They make sure every student is enjoying their time at Tyrrell. (Led by Ms. Bosotas)
Tyrrell Library Assistants (TLAs)
This team of students help to run our school library. They assist greatly in keeping the library organized, creating displays, and suggesting new resources for our students. (Led by Ms. Hafner)
Writing Club
All students are invited to join this club to be supported by other student writers and potentially publish, at least at the school level, their work. (Led by Mr. Beatty)
Yearbook Committee
The Yearbook Committee will work to put together a book of memories for the students. Members have the opportunity to be involved in photography and digital design. (Led by Ms. Bosotas)
