MALVERN COLLEGIATE INSTITUTE
MAY BULLETIN
May 2, 2025
As we move
into May, the final stretch of the school year comes into view. With Prom, our
spring play and concert, along with the continuation of spring sports, there’s
much to celebrate. We also take time for important reflection with Red Dress
Day as we honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and
Two-Spirit People. While exams and culminating activities are still ahead in
June, now is a good time to connect with teachers, guidance, or admin if you
have any questions or need support in preparing for the end of the semester.

Red Dress Day, celebrated annually on
May 5th, is a national day of awareness in Canada for Missing and Murdered
Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+). It's a day to
acknowledge the violence faced by Indigenous people, honour those lost, and
call for action to address the crisis. The day is marked by the display of red
dresses, a visual reminder of the missing and murdered, and a symbol of the
ongoing crisis.
