JANUARY BULLETIN

January 10, 2025

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and managed to find their proper winter gear because the cold has arrived! With two weeks before exams begin we encourage students to take a moment to pause and ensure that they have everything they need to ensure their success. There are numerous supports available, both online and in person here at Malvern, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

FROM THE MAIN OFFICE

  • Contact information for admin is listed below should you require further support after contacting the main office, classroom teacher, guidance, special education and/or student success:
  • Important Update: Student Vaccinations and ISPA Compliance
    • Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA), students up to age 17 must be vaccinated against specific diseases or have a valid exemption to avoid suspension. This year, Toronto Public Health (TPH) is assessing Grade 11 students (born in 2008). Non-compliant students will receive two notification letters followed by a suspension order if required actions are not completed.Parents/students are responsible for reporting the student’s immunizations to Toronto Public Health every time the student gets a vaccine. Health care providers, such as doctors or nurses, do not report vaccines to TPH.
    • Steps to Avoid Suspension:
      • Check and Report Vaccinations: Update records via Immunization Connect Ontario (ICON) or call 416-338-7600 (Option 2).
      • Get Required Vaccines: Book appointments with a healthcare provider if needed.
      • Submit Exemptions: For medical or religious/conscience exemptions, complete the necessary forms and education session.
    • Learn more at toronto.ca/StudentVaccines.
  • Virtual Office Hours-Pathway To Care For Mental Health with the TDSB Mental Health and Well Being Parent Committee
    • Designed specifically for parents, guardians, and caregivers, this session will provide a comprehensive overview of mental health, helping participants better understand its importance, recognize signs of mental well-being, and learn practical strategies to support children and youth. January 15th, 7:00pm-8:00pm
