Visual Arts, Photography, and Graphics

Visual Arts courses students will create art works which communicate their views of contemporary social and political issues through the disciplines of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, architecture and new media. Through technical skill development and experimentation with a variety of artistic media and the study of art history, students will develop their art portfolios.

Painting

Students can work in clay, water colour, silkscreen, pen and ink, charcoal, acrylics and a variety of other mediums in our studio courses. Students who take their required art credit often continue to pursue art classes throughout their high school career. Students can take Visual Art through Grades 9-12.

Photography and Graphic Arts

Photography courses will provide students with a good working knowledge of analog and digital photography including camera techniques as well as the fundamentals of composition.

In film and video classes students will become familiar with the interdisciplinary uses of video including web-based video streaming for the purpose of journalism, self-promotion, art and entertainment.

In Communications Technology (Graphic Arts) students will develop knowledge and skills as they design and produce media projects in the areas of live, recorded and graphic communications. Students will develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues.
