We are thrilled to have a Morning Meal program to support student learning and wellbeing will be starting at Norway. Morning Meal is offered to all students before first recess and includes fresh fruit or vegetable, protein, and a whole grain item. Food choices are based on Canada’s Food Guide and Toronto Public Health Student Nutrition Guidelines.
While we receive funding from municipal and provincial government grants, these funds cover only about 25% of the cost of running the program. Contributions from parents are needed to make the program sustainable for the school year. Contributions to the nutrition program can be made through the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) is an independent, registered charitable organization dedicated to supporting Toronto District School Board (TDSB) children and helping remove barriers to their education.
Suggested contribution for each child: $40 (September to December). For families who are able to do so, please consider donating more to support a student in need in our school community. You can use this link to donate, click the ‘I want to support’ button, and scroll down to find Norway Public School Nutrition Program. This can be a one-time or a recurring donation.
All students are included in the Morning Meal program! If your child has any allergies or dietary restrictions, please complete the allergy form linked here by Thursday, October 9th.
A program like this relies on volunteers to ensure its success. Are you able to help out a few hours a week in the morning? If so, please sign up to volunteer here.
Thank you for your support of the Norway Public School nutrition program! You can read more on the TDSB student nutrition website at: https://www.tdsb.on.ca/Elementary-School/Supporting-You/Student-Nutrition
