School Saliva Testing and Research Programs with SickKids
Once again this school year, Norway is participating in SickKids School Saliva Testing and Research Programs. The community message linked here provides more details about the Saliva Testing and Research Program and how it works at Norway. As a part of this voluntary program, when your child is sick, test kits can be picked up at the school, or taken home by your child, and dropped back at the school the same day or the next day. SickKids picks up samples daily and tests for five viruses this school year - influenza, RSV, COVID-19, pertussis (whooping cough), and mycoplasma pneumoniae (walking pneumonia). If the results are positive, someone from SickKids calls you to inform you of the results. This information is only shared with you. Test kits can be picked up and dropped off in the main office. You can read more about the Saliva Testing Program as highlighted in an article in the Toronto Star - Saliva tests help spot COVID, flu and RSV in Toronto schools.pdf.
