The hardworking staff and students of R.H. King Academy put on a fabulous production of Into the Woods in December! This tremendous production was lovingly put on by a dedicated team of staff and students. Well done, everyone!

R.H. King's School Council is a dedicated group of parents, admin, and staff who meet on a regular basis to discuss all aspects of life at school and the well-being of staff and students. You are encouraged to get involved and to participate in any of the meetings that are held, both in-person and online.

Currently, nomination forms to be a voting member of council are open. Caregivers of R H King students can self-nominate to be a member of council by completing and submitting the following form - School Council Self-Nomination Form.
Please consider joining our RH King School Council. Your voice and input are essential. The nomination form above is required to be a voting member of the Council but any caregiver can attend any and all meetings at any time.
Wellness Week & R.H. King's Unique Calendar
R.H. King Academy follows a unique calendar in the TDSB. As the first of its kind, the idea is to give students a much-needed break in November to allow them to rest, recharge, get caught up on work, do volunteer work, apply to university, or anything else that can help them focus on bettering their mental health for the challenges in high school.
Our first week of classes begins the last week of August (August 25, 2025). All students are expected to attend as classes begin immediately. Our Wellness Week aka November Break runs from November 3 - 7, 2025.
After that date, our school runs in alignment with the TDSB system calendar observing all normal dates/vacations.

MODIFIED CALENDAR UPDATE (May 26, 2025)

At last night’s meeting of the Toronto District School Board, Trustees approved the R. H. King Modified Calendar Review Report, including the following recommendation: It is recommended that the modified school year calendar at R. H. King Academy be approved with effect from the 2026-2027 school year, subject to Ministry approval in accordance with Section 5 of O. Reg. 304. This means that the modified calendar (including the early start to the school year and November Wellness Week) will continue at R. H. King Academy moving forward, subject to Ministry approval each year. As you know, over the past year, our school community has been engaged in a comprehensive review process related to the modified calendar.
