On September 30th, students and staff at Silverthorn C.I. wore orange shirts and shared the message “Every Child Matters.” These words remind us of the painful legacy of residential schools and honour the children, survivors, families, and communities whose lives continue to be affected by this history.
We recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing journey and that there is much work to be done to advance the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s 94 Calls to Action. As a school community, we are committed to learning, listening, and taking meaningful steps toward greater understanding, respect, and inclusion. As a community we stand united in our commitment to the ongoing work of truth, healing, and reconciliation.
