Welcome to Burnhamthorpe Community and Adult Learning Centre!
I am exceedingly grateful to serve as your principal during this 2017-2018 school year. My staff and I are committed to making Burnhamthorpe Collegiate Adult Learning Centre a safe and intellectually challenging environment that will empower all of you to become innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers, and inspired learners in your communities. Our mission is to ensure that your well-being is provided for, that your goals for academic achievement are accomplished, and that you are always treated fairly and equitably.
At BCALC we honor our commitment to serve you by ensuring that high academic standards are maintained. Our teachers provide lessons that are instructionally differentiated, as well as, integrated with a variety of innovative technological tools and resources to enhance learning. In addition, we offer you various pathways for success that lead to postsecondary programs or apprenticeship programs.
Knowing that academic achievement is only part of the equation in our goal of ensuring your success, we also offer you mentorship programs and counseling supports, lunch and learn leadership forums, sports programs, and social clubs and activities. Your participation in these co-curricular programs is what will enrich your educational experience and build our school community.
Finally, my staff and I are commissioned and committed to ensuring you receive fair and equitable treatment. The maintenance of high academic standards does not come at the expense of a caring learning environment were in an understanding of and accommodation for your unique educational needs are taken into consideration. We will work with you to ensure your success.

Among our alumni of notable mention include First Nations Elder Dr. Bob Phillips, actress Catherine O’Hara, and the late film critic Elwy Yost.
