Time of year: All Year
Half Day Program
This interactive game showcases the motivations of nations in acquiring wealth and its impact on climate change. It also
highlights settlement patterns, land use and sustainability. Students role-play as a nation and explore the property looking for settlements that are ideal for harvesting a certain resource (agriculture, water, oil, or lumber) and mark the settlements on GPS units to claim them. Students can cash in their settlements for resources but have a choice to do so sustainably. Students must be wary of Climate Change which may take resources away from them if they cannot invest in green technologies to counter this threat. Land use and its impacts on the natural environment in a global context are explored (e.g., harvesting of rain forests, desertification).
