What to Expect

TDSB EcoSchools

The Etobicoke Field Studies Centre is a proud Platinum EcoSchool.  During your visit you will be introduced to a number of practices that we employ to reduce our eco footprint.  Some of these include a "Boomerang Lunch" where students and adults are asked to take any garbage or recycling home with them, and we encourage the use of reusable containers including personal water bottles. We provide composting facilities for fruit and vegetable waste as we have red wiggler worms that eat the waste.

Here is a Waste Free Lunch poster that may help you to pack a garbage and recycling free lunch. It is also available in several other languages: Chinese, Arabic, French, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, Urdu, and Punjabi.

What to Expect

Your adventure at the Etobicoke Field Studies Centre starts the moment you step onto your bus. After just a short ride, you will turn into Claireville Conservation Area and travel up the gravel road towards our Centre. The Centre will soon come into view through the trees. Once your bus stops, a member of our staff will happily greet your class and give you further instructions.

If you are an elementary student, you will enter our building through the lower level mudroom where you will leaves your lunches, boots and coats.  Secondary students will proceed directly to our upstairs classroom.

Our elementary classroom has a number of things to explore.

Our secondary classroom has a number of tables and chairs as well as a large open space for active participation.
