Cooperative Education

This course offers a unique learning experience that combines community engagement with cooperative education. By participating in real-world projects, students will develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership. They will also learn to apply their knowledge to protect their health and well-being, and to make informed decisions about their future. Through personalized learning plans, students will have the opportunity to explore their passions and tailor their education to their individual goals. We are proud to say that about 75% of our grade 11 students are choosing the great work experience opportunities through out cooperative education program!

Starting with the Class of 2028, every Ontario high school student will take a new mandatory tech course in Grade 9 or 10. This isn't your average class—it’s hands-on, project-based, and designed to help you figure out what you're passionate about.

What's it all about at FHCI?

This new course, officially called "Technology and the Skilled Trades," is a chance to explore real-world skills and jobs. You won't just sit at a desk; you'll learn by doing. Think of it as a try-it-out class for different career paths.

Here's a sneak peek at what you might get to do:

  • Build items in a workshop
  • Design projects using software
  • Work with technology such as robots or 3D printers 
  • Create graphics, movies or animation

This course is all about giving you more options. You'll get to explore careers you might not have considered before, especially in the skilled trades where there are tons of job opportunities waiting.
