Numeracy & Mathematics

Numeracy and Mathematics

At the core of our math program is the exciting challenge of problem-solving! Students are empowered to tackle unfamiliar problems with confidence, exploring multiple strategies to discover solutions. One of the most powerful skills they develop is the ability to turn real-world scenarios into mathematical models—transforming complex situations into clear diagrams, graphs, and equations. As they advance through their studies, students refine these techniques and master sophisticated tools for modeling, preparing them to think critically and creatively in any context.

Grade 9 Mathematics

This course is designed to be inclusive of all students in order to facilitate their transition from the elementary grades to the secondary level. The Grade 9 mathematics course is designed to provide a strong foundation for all students, regardless of their future goals. It emphasizes understanding mathematical concepts and applying them to real-world situations. By engaging in mathematical processes like problem-solving, reasoning, and communication, students develop the skills they need to succeed in higher-level mathematics courses and beyond.

Senior Mathematics

Our senior mathematics courses continue to build on the strong foundation laid in Grades 9 and 10. They focus on deep understanding of mathematics concepts, rather than just memorization of rules. By exploring mathematics through investigations and connecting it to real-world situations, students develop the skills to apply their knowledge in various settings and prepare for their future studies or careers. These experiences foster a growth mindset and help students become lifelong learners who see math as a powerful tool for innovation and success.
