History of IB at Weston Collegiate – IB Diploma Program
Weston C.I. offers the IB Diploma Program (DP) for high school students. The IB Diploma Program is a rigorous and challenging 2-year program of study, taught by accredited teachers which begins in grade 11 and leads to a second high school diploma, standardized around the world.
Some Weston IB staff are also examiners, moderators and workshop leaders for the International Baccalaureate Organization®. Examinations are marked externally using the global standards in grade 12. Students are inspired to appreciate learning, to recognize balance in their approach to life, to help others and to make a difference in the world.
Weston Collegiate Institute became an accredited International Baccalaureate® (IB) school on March 1, 1994. Weston’s IB program is one of 5 IB school programs that exist in the TDSB.
Since our first graduating class of 8 students in 1996, almost 1000 students have completed the program and over 80% have successfully graduated with the IB diploma, in addition to their OSSD. Weston currently services 100-200 IB students.
