Bloor CI and Alpha II to share facilities with Central Tech

Letter sent to Central Tech students, parents and staff.

April 24, 2019

Dear students, parents, and staff:

We are writing you today to share information about a project involving a neighbouring school, which will impact Central Technical School as well. Bloor CI and Alpha II Alternative School are set to move into a new school once it is completed. The TDSB is currently finalizing approvals for that project with both the City and the Ministry of Education. Construction on a new building is anticipated to begin in November 2019, and expected to take a minimum of two years to complete.

Bloor CI and Alpha II will need to move out of their current location before December 2020. As such, the TDSB has identified Central Tech as an ideal location to temporarily host Bloor CI and Alpha II until their new building is completed. Please join us in welcoming our neighbours to the west beginning in September 2020.

Central Tech was selected because of proximity to Bloor/Alpha II, location on the Bloor/Danforth subway line, and the ample space available. TDSB staff have coordinated other projects that involved holding sites while new schools are built, so we are confident that this arrangement will be effectively managed. Bloor CI/Alpha II and Central Tech administration teams will be meeting regularly in the months leading up to the move so that the transition is successful for all involved.

We want to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. While we may experience some inconvenience during this process, we will collectively do our very best to minimize disruption to students and continue to provide the very best programming and co-curricular opportunities in a caring and safe space.
