Parents/Guardians

The Vital Role of Parents/Guardians

Parents and guardians play an important role in the City View school community. Individually, parents and guardians are responsible to go through the TM process with their young person. In addition, there are many ways we encourage parents to become involved, such as sitting on the School Advisory Committee, volunteering to lead workshops for Extended Activity Weeks, joining us for field trips, helping to set up for events, building sets for Drama performances, or being on any number of smaller committees.

School Advisory Council

City View Alternative Senior School has a very dedicated and energetic School Advisory Council (SAC).  Parents organize our fundraising initiative (a campaign asking for parent donations to keep special events and programs running) and they help organize events such as Winterfest and Graduation.  We have 2 School Advisory Council co-chairs, usually one Grade 7 and one Grade 8 parent/ guardian. Other positions include a treasurer and secretary. Everyone is welcome to join and we often have small dedicated committees that branch off to help organize and support City View's special events. Meetings are usually bi-monthly and it is a great way to get to know others and support the school community.
