At City View, we really value student participation and input. We believe the best way to learn about democracy is to practice it. City View's Student Council gives students a voice and allows them to engage in democratic decision making about their school community.
Our Student Council is a rotating group of students who bring forward new ideas and discuss ways to improve the school. Everyone has an opportunity to share ideas and contribute to the agenda prior to our regular Student Meetings. During Student Meeting, agenda topics are presented and we all come up with possible solutions before making a final decision. The Student Council follows Robert's Rules of Order to put forward ideas and suggestions and to make decisions.
Student Council is made up of both Grade 7s and 8s so that everyone has a chance to share their opinions, facilitate discussions and lead the decision making process at some point during the school year.
