Visual Arts Department

George S. Henry's art department strives to provide students with a holistic and supportive environment to learn, explore, and grow.  Students are exposed to a variety of different art practices and concepts designed to enrich, challenge, and broaden their understanding of themselves and the world around them.  We learn not just art techniques and concepts, but important soft skills such as problem solving, creativity, critical thinking, organization, and risk-taking.

Student Testimonials

I like Henry's art classes, especially grade 9, because it was really cool and we learned new things.  Also the projects and culminating were fun and I loved it when we worked with clay.

Tamman (grade 10)

It was a very enjoyable class (grade 10 art), a fun teacher, and very flexible deadlines.  People should join even if they're not very confident in art since it's still very fun.  You learn a lot about art history and the art assignments are very fun and interesting.

Zachary (grade 10)

Art class was very enjoyable as there are many things to learn and improve on like shading, sewing, or painting.  If you like art or want to try new mediums, George S. Henry's Art class has it all.

Jarius (grade 10)

I like Henry's art classes because they teach art techniques and how they can be used in daily life.   You get to experience art that maybe you didn't know existed.  I personally found an art that I enjoy, which was embroidery.   So you learn an art skill and can fix holes in your clothes by yourself.

Abby (grade 11)

I like Henry's art classes because of the many resources it has, which gives me the possibility to express myself in many ways and forms, rather than just drawing.  It's also a safe space for everyone interested in arts, even for those with not much experience in it.

Miranda (grade 12)
