John Wanless Chess Program (Winter 2020)
The John Wanless Chess Program will be offering lunch-hour instructional sessions (11:35 to 12:20pm) on Wednesday (new JW chess players) and Thursday (returning JW chess players) for 9 consecutive weeks, beginning on Wednesday, January 22nd and 23rd and ending on Wednesday, March 25th and Thursday, March 26th. The cost is $110.00. The John Wanless Winter 2020 Chess Program is open to ALL students in Grades 1-6 who were enrolled in the Fall 2019 session. This means that you will only be able to register your child for the Winter 2020 session if he or she has previously been enrolled in the Fall 2019 session.
Students are asked to bring a lunch and chess set and go to their chess classrooms at 11:35. If the “Lunch Lady” provides your child’s lunch, please ask your child to pick up their lunch first and then go directly to their chess classroom.
We run this program in cooperation with the Chess ‘n Math Association, which provides chess instruction in over 100 schools in southern Ontario. If you wish to register, please complete the bottom portion, and RETURN IT TO THE CHESS ENVELOPE IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE (and not to your child’s classroom teacher) by Tuesday, January 7th, with a cheque payable to John Wanless School Council in the amount of $110.00. PLEASE NOTE THE INCREASED FEE DUE TO THE INCREASED INSTRUCTION COST. CASH PAYMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
If you can drop off your registration forms before the holidays, this would be greatly appreciated because it facilitates the lengthy process of organizing classes.
