Next week we are into exams – as always, buckle down in the short term for long term rewards. Two weeks of full effort and you can all relax for the summer feeling happy about a job well done.

Student Success Updates

This week our Student Nutrition Program Volunteers (staff, parents and students) attended an appreciation lunch at John Polanyi C.I. This event was hosted by the TDSB to thank our volunteers for all their time and efforts put into making our Student Nutrition Program accesible to our student body. Well done, Northern! PHOTO

Special Education - Exams

Students are encouraged to check their student email this weekend to confirm the location of their final exams. Student's writing in a computer lab should report to the Library 10-15 minutes prior to their exam to account for the login process.

From the PALs Association:

The PALs (mentors to English Language Learners) have had an exciting few weeks: we held our first Cultural Fair at lunch.

There was an interactive sign featuring the countries of our cultural heritage, and free international food samples - once students answered a cultural trivia question! The event was a great success, with students crowding the tables until the food was gone and the sign was full of all the many places we come from.

On May 30th, the PALs and 25 ELLs went to a Blue Jays game.

What a night! The weather was perfect, our seats overlooked 3rd base, with an incredible view of the CN Tower, and we won!!! This was the first baseball game for most - what an awesome way to experience Toronto culture.

This week, interviews were held for next year's Pals executive team, and the PALs had their final meeting to strategize new ways to welcome ELLs and connect with the wider Northern community. We can’t wait to put our plans into action next year. Wishing everyone an amazing summer vacation!
