Mr.Cushman's Grade 1 class and Mr.Whitaker's Grade 6 class safely collaborated on an art project using 225 Rubiks
Cubes to make a giant mosaic of the Rolph Road school crest. The unique nature of this project allowed students from both grades to work together, while staying distant. Mr. Whitaker’s Grade 6s worked with their classmates to solve most of the cubes to reflect the colour combinations in our school logo. Each Grade 1 was assigned 1 cube to complete and inserted the final cubes to complete this giant 3-D artwork. It is now on display in front of the school office. The project was such a big success that we invested in hundreds of cubes , so that students from all classes can problem solve and take the Rubik’s challenge with cube mosaics and patterning algorithms.
Watch out for a Cubing Club coming to Rolph next school year!
