Student Absence/Safe Arrival: To ensure the safety of your child, it is very important that you call the Safe Arrival System before 8:30 a.m. in order to report if your child will be late arriving or absent from school. Safe arrival messages are only picked up till 8:30. Any that come in after this time will retrieved after 9:00am. Safe arrival phone number is available 24 hours a day— 416-396-2437 and press 1.Please leave a voice message in the safe arrival mailbox with the following information:
- Your name
- Your child's first and last name
- Your child's teacher or class code
- The reason for his/her absence including symptoms
- How long you expect your child to be away from school
If your child is absent and we have not heard from you, the Safe Arrival System will call out to the two primary contacts listed. It is crucial that we have up-to-date addresses and contact names and numbers from you at all times.
Extended Absence:
Good attendance patterns are an important factor in a student's overall success at school. Parents who wish to remove their child from school for a vacation or extended leave during the school year must obtain and fill out an Extended Absence Form. Please contact the office as soon as possible for further information.
Entry into School During Pandemic: When students enter/exit the school it needs to be via their assigned doors, unless late. To ensure we have a safe school, from the direction of the Board, Parents/Guardians will not be welcomed in-person at this time Parents/Guardians that require late drop off of their child or pick-up need to call the office and arrange time and door assignment.
Student Lates: To ensure the safety of our students, those arriving after the entry bells 8:40am or 12:25pm need to call the school office prior to arrival. Please call Safe Arrival first and then the School Office 416-396-2435 to arrange for entry into the school. All students arriving late are to enter through the North Parking lot door #2 - Only when a Supervisor is present to view their Covid screening tool, aka duo-tang, and sign them in. Please call the school office first.
Early Pick up: If you need to pickup you child early, please call our school office in advance and send a note to the teacher. Please arrange to pick-up your child before or after Recess or by 2:45pm the latest, in order to avoid interrupting the last half hour of instruction. If you arrive after 3:00pm, unless an emergency, we kindly ask to pick your child up at the assigned dismissal door and time 3:15pm.
Weather Conditions / School Closures: The safety and welfare of students is a shared responsibility with parents and guardians. It is important for everyone to understand how the Board operates under unusual weather conditions.
