Daily Checklist for elementary school

Back to school for our elementary students will look different this year. That's why the Board has created a daily checklist with new health and safety measures to help keep students and staff safe from the spread of COVID-19. View CheckList Here

Student Absence/Safe Arrival: To ensure the safety of your child, it is very important that you call the Safe Arrival System before 8:30 a.m. in order to report if your child will be late arriving or absent from school. Safe arrival messages are only picked up till 8:30. Any that come in after this time will retrieved after 9:00am. Safe arrival phone number is available 24 hours a day— 416-396-2437 and press 1.Please leave a voice message in the safe arrival mailbox with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your child's first and last name
  • Your child's teacher or class code
  • The reason for his/her absence including symptoms
  • How long you expect your child to be away from school

If your child is absent and we have not heard from you, the Safe Arrival System will call out to the two primary contacts listed. It is crucial that we have up-to-date addresses and contact names and numbers from you at all times.

Extended Absence:
Good attendance patterns are an important factor in a student's overall success at school.  Parents who wish to remove their child from school for a vacation or extended leave during the school year must obtain and fill out an Extended Absence Form from the office.

Entry into School: When students enter/exit the school it needs to be via assigned doors, unless late. For Parents/Guardians, Volunteers and Visitors it needs to be through the Front Door, Door #1, using the buzzer. To ensure we have a safe school, it is imperative that we know who is in the school at all times.  Parents/Guardians, Visitors and Volunteers need to report to the office first, sign in and receive a school identification badge. You are to report again to the office and sign out.

Student LatesTo ensure the safety of our students, those arriving after the entry bells 8:40am or 12:25pm shall enter through Door #1 and proceed directly to the office to receive an "Admit Slip" before proceeding to class. Parents/Guardians must call our Safe Arrival to report their child's late arrival to school. If this is not done, then a note must accompany the student with the reason for being late and must be presented to the office upon their arrival. Reason will be entered into our school system. Late arrivals are tracked and listed on your child’s report card and reported to the T.D.S.B. through school system. Parents/Guardians accompanying their child to school when late, are to report to the office upon arrival.

Early Pick up: If you need to pickup you child early, please call our school office in advance and send a note to the teacher. Please arrange to pick-up your child before or after Recess or by 2:45pm the latest, in order to avoid interrupting the last half hour of learning. If you arrive after 3:00pm, unless an emergency, we kindly ask to pick your child up at the assigned dismissal door and time 3:15pm.
