East York Collegiate Institute (EYCI) is a large, dynamic school community which promotes excellence by building on the strength and diversity of its members.

The Environment Club is excited to host the Waste Education assembly this Thursday. Town Hall style seating is seating your class in order of arrival, front to back of the auditorium. Please sit near your class and encourage your class to participate in a respectful manner in the discussion and Q & A after our guest speaker.

Our assembly will educate students and staff on how to properly dispose of our waste, present our waste audit results, and begin an EYCI waste free school for 2015 by bringing our own mug/bottle/tupperware/cutlery to reduce our waste in the school.

We will also have a guest speaker for the second half of the assembly, Andrew Nisker, documentary film maker and local politician. Andrew will present a clip of his documentary Garbage! The revolution starts here, and discuss local community issues surrounding garbage and our consumption habits.

Our Go Green Campaign will continue after the assembly with Go Green buttons on sale for 50 cents, and Go Green mugs for $8. Environment Club members will be selling them in the rotunda at lunch. A 'Green' New Year's Resolution banner will also be up outside of guidance for staff and students to write in a change to their waste habits.
