The Special Education Department at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute offers academic support for students with special needs. Our Special Education teachers help students understand their learning strengths and areas of need on their IEP. Students can take the General Learning Strategies course in grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 which will focus on learning strategies that help students become an independent learner. In this course, students will focus on building their learning abilities, self-advocacy skills, and explore post-secondary options. In addition, students have access to Resource rooms for accommodation support throughout the school day. The Special Education Department assists students throughout secondary school as they explore pathways to post-secondary careers and programs of interest.
