Good Evening Northern Families,

  1. am sure the majority of students are already enjoying a long weekend break. For anyone that was working on catching up today, or will be on Monday and/ or Tuesday keep going- it will all be worth it! Next week Semester 2 begins on Thursday February 3rd. t will be a day 1. Friday will also be a Day 1. Monday the 7th will be a day 2 and we alternate day 1 and 2 after that. On this day we will be returning to a typical semestered model with 4 classes per day. Please find the updated calendar HERE.

Timetables will be shared with students via email on Monday January 31st or Tuesday February 1st at the latest. TDSB Connects should also have student timetables available next week. Please note that we continue to reschedule some students who are virtual learners into hubs involving other TDSB schools. This has led to a delay in sending out these timetables.

An email will also be sent out on Wednesday with reminders for the first day of semester 2 (timetables/ door entry/ screening/ etc). The board has already communicated the daily schedule structure directly to parents.

Wednesday was Bell Let’s Talk Day. Northern’s own WellNSS group has put together this short VIDEO as a part of the day. Please have a look! Thank you to WellNSS for continuing to highlight staff and student mental health.

If you were a Virtual Student semester 1, or you were an in person learner but forgot to return your books, please return them to exit 1 of the school on Monday January 31st or Tuesday February 1st. We will have bins in the entry to drop books/ library books in. Please put your name neatly inside, or on a sticky note on the cover. We appreciate your ensuring resources are returned to the school.

Please see Trustee Rachel Chernos Lin’s hot off the press NEWSLETTER Trustee Chernos Lin will also be hosting a ward forum and will have Dr. Janine McCready from Michael Garron as a guest for the first hour who will provide the latest data and information on Covid-19 vaccines. The second half will be focussed on a more casual conversation and opportunity for questions with our two Ward 11 superintendents.
