School Council Nomination Form

Richview School Council

Dear Richview Families,

In order to ensure that all families, including those with students attending school virtually and those attending in person have the opportunity to participate in the School Council/Parent Council, elections have been moved to Tuesday, October 27, 2020, and the deadline for accepting nominations has been extended to October 23, 2020.

We are required, by Regulation, to hold elections for Parent Council members within 30 days of the start of the school year. Since virtual learning began on September 22, 2020, we have a little more time before we need to hold elections.

It is more important than ever for us, as parents, to stay engaged with the school, to remain involved, and to do what we can to support the school. While we won't be meeting in person in the near future, we will be holding virtual meetings, likely via Zoom. It is our hope that remote meetings will allow even more parents to engage with the school.

Elections are going to be held virtually on October 27, 2020 using Zoom. In the meantime, think about a position you might like to hold on the Parent Council. The available executive positions are:

  • Chair/Co-Chair
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Grad Committees
  • Fundraising Committee

All Richview Parents are welcome on the School Council and are eligible for any position. We've already received a few nomination forms, so make sure to get yours in today. There isn't a huge time commitment, and it's a great experience. You can nominate yourself or someone else to the Council. Just complete the attached form and return it back to us by October 23, 2020. If you can't complete the form, then simply send an email to richviewparentcouncil@gmail.com with the information on the form.

Election Procedures

An email will be sent out once all nomination forms are received on October 23, 2020 advising of the nominees for each position.

Parents can cast a vote using any of the following methods:

  1. Via anonymous pallot during the Zoom meeting on October 27, 2020;
  2. Via email to be received before the meeting on October 27, 2020 (email to richviewparentcouncil@gmail.col); or
  3. Via anonymous ballot delivered to the school office via a student by October 27, 2020 (that would work as all students will be in the school either Monday or Tuesday).

Welcome to the School Year!

Good morning everyone!

As we move through week 2 of our new school year, we are looking to move forward as a Parent Council to help support our kids and the school.

As you can see from Ms. Kletke's emails, a tremendous amount of work has been done at Richview to prepare for the students to return. Remember, it's our responsibility to help monitor ourselves and our kids to make sure that they only go to school when they're healthy to do so.

Drop Offs

If you are dropping off your kids for school, be mindful that the parking lot may get pretty busy. Consider dropping off at the plaza on Wincott Driver, at Richview Public Library, or on one of the other streets near the school. This will help avoid congestion in the parking lot.

Because only 2 doors will be used to allow students to enter the school, please encourage the kids to get school early, so that they can enter the building as soon as possible.

First Parent Council Meeting

SAVE THE DATE - We have tentatively scheduled the first Parent Council meeting of this school year for Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 7:00 pm. More details, and an invitation will be sent out soon.

Parent Council Elections

We are required, by Regulation, to hold elections for Parent Council members within 30 days of the start of the school year, and to have a meeting within 35 days.

We will also be holding elections virtually, and the TDSB will be providing us with some guidelines on how to do that in the very near future. In the meantime, think about a position you might like to hold on the Parent Council. The available executive positions are:

  • Chair/Co-Chair
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Grad Committees
  • Fundraising Committee

All Richview Parents are welcome on the Parent Council and are eligible for any position. As your current co-chairs have students who will be graduating this year, it's time to get some new faces in those seats. There isn't a huge time commitment, and it's a great experience. You can nominate yourself or someone else to the Council. Just complete the attached form and return it back to us by October 8, 2020. If you can't complete the form, then simply send an email to richviewparentcouncil@gmail.com with the information on the form.
