SAINTS

Students Assisting Independent Neighbourhood Toronto Seniors enjoyed its first event just in time for Halloween with a pumpkin carving session at Scarlet Heights Retirement Residence.

Enrichment for the Advisory Group
Laura Garcia of the Alzheimer's Society delivered an invaluable information session to members of the Advisory Group on Wed. Feb. 17, 2016. As expected, our students inquisitive nature prompted many significant questions in the follow-up portion of the session that will further build their capacity as they find their pathways to future studies and career paths. Thank you Laura and Ms. Calabria for your spirited support of this event!

Alzheimers session

What are we about?
Into it's fifth year, the PAG is a force of 40-50 Grade 11 and 12 students whose primary purpose is to mentor, tutor and befriend Grade 9 students throughout their transition year.

We also take to community support for seniors in our SAINTS outreach which you can learn about on this "School Life" page.

Ten groups of 6 senior students, each with a leader, are assigned to each of our ten Grade 9 home forms. Visits are made throughout the year first to socialize, then to deliver support sessions on themes identified by grade 9s as critical to their wellness and success.

The structured visits are complemented by the on-going availability of our senior leaders to mentor/tutor their grade 9 peers whenever needed.
