S.A.I.N.T.S.

Students Assisting Independent Neighbourhood Toronto Seniors

The Principal Advisory Group (PAG) is an initiative that started in 2011 which  provides leadership opportunities for our senior students to mentor our junior students.   In addition, we also have our strong Students Assisting Independent Neighbourhood Toronto Seniors S-A-I-N-T-S program.

Our  S-A-I-N-T-S program allows our senior students to give back to their community by participating in planned activities at local senior homes, as well as raking leaves and shoveling snow for resident seniors.

Our first event was scary good: pumpkin carving took place on Oct. 29 at Kingsway RR.

Future Community Events include:
•  Scarlett Heights Retirement Residence
Saturday, Dec 10, 2016 (1:00-4:00pm) Open house activities

Message from Claudia Dell'Anno
Director of Recreation
Kingsway Retirement Residence, Dec. 15, 2015....

Good Morning All,

Thank you for the pictures, I will be putting them up on our TV for all to see.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be there Saturday but Natasha, and the residents, told me what a great time they had with you all and the gingerbread houses all look so great I don’t think I can pick a winner. I can’t express how much it means to our community that you volunteer your time here at Kingsway, it brings such joy to our residents and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Wishing you all a very Happy Holiday Season, enjoy your time off from school and we can’t wait to have you back in the new year!

Sincerely,

Claudia Dell'Anno

A sub-set of the Principal's Advisory Group, members of SAINTS seek to support and befriend senior members of our community.

Support How?
We rake lawns and shovel driveways for seniors who are still in their homes.

Befriend How?
We partner with area senior residences, last year with Scarlet Heights and this year with the Kingsway Retirement Residence.

What do we do?
We deck the halls, trim the trees, bake cookies, make ginger bread houses but mostly we spend time with seniors who in turn share their friendship with us.

Other examples?
Our students visit seniors in their homes to play cards or learn new computer skills.
