The key goals of the Marc Garneau health and physical education program include the following:

  • provide each student with the skills to develop resilience and a secure identity and sense of self
  • have each student participate regularly in a wide variety of physical activities
  • help each student improve their personal level of physical fitness
  • provide each student with the skills and knowledge required to make healthy decisions
  • challenge each student to improve communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • empower each student to increase control over physical, social and mental/emotional well-being.
