Students are reminded that the completion of 40 hours community service is mandatory for the OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma). Upon completion of hours, students are asked to submit a letter on official letterhead describing the activity and the hours completed, giving details, and providing a supervising person’s signature and contact information. This letter will be submitted to the guidance office staff, who will hand in all submitted letters for approval to the principal. Community hours are approved only if the service is part of a not-for-profit organization. – no exceptions will be made.
Graduating students who have not completed their hours are advised to have these hours completed by the end of semester 1; otherwise they jeopardize their admission to post-secondary and graduation status.
