e-Credit Trimester 3 Orientation

If you were unable to attend the face-to-face e-Credit Trimester 3 Orientation at City Adult Learning Centre yesterday evening, don't worry.On the first day of classes - Monday, March 23rd - just check the News feed in your online classroom and look for the dates and times that your e-Credit teacher is holding Adobe Connect make-up orientations. Attending one of these Adobe Connect sessions will get you off to a great start!

We're getting ready for an exciting new semester of online learning. Semester 2 starts on Friday, January 30, 2015! If you're an enrolled TDSB student, check your email for a password reset link and login to Desire2Learn and go through theIntroduction to the Online Classroom module. This will help you get familiar with important e-learning tasks like creating discussion posts and dropping off assignments. Registration for e-Learning Day School Semester 1 is currently closed, but registration for Semester 2 is ongoing. e-Credit (18+) Winter (Trimester 2) course offerings will be available and registration will open on Tuesday, September 23rd.

If you are a senior TDSB secondary school student and you'd like to take an e-Learning course as one of your scheduled courses this school year, check out the available courses and registration information on our website. Take the Is e-Learning Right For Me? quiz to see if an online course fits your learning style. ou can log into e-Reg with your TDSB student number and computer network password any time to make a course request, but then make sure you follow up and complete all 3 steps of the registration process. It's really important that you visit your school Guidance Counsellor to discuss your course options and receive authorization to take an e-Learning Day School course. You aren't enrolled until your Guidance Counsellor approves your course request.  Please read the orientation, starting your course and exam web pages for important details. 


e-Credit (18+) Fall Registration

 

July 27, 2014Registration is now open for the Fall Session of our popular e-Credit (18+) online program for adult learners. Fall Session classes run from September 15th to November 28th. Check out the CoursesRegistration and FAQ pages for all the details! Have a question? Send us an email at elearning@tdsb.on.ca  The e-Credit (18+) program is for adult learners age 18 and over. If you're a teenage TDSB high school student interested in taking an online course as part of your timetable next year, the e-Learning Day School program is the one for you.

Countdown to e-Summer!

Are you ready? Enrolled Session 1 (July) e-Summer School students will receive their course links between 8 and 10 am this morning. Time to get learning! If you missed your face-to-face Orientation last week make sure you contact your teacher about arrangements for a "make-up" orientation via Adobe Connect web conferencing. It's very important that you login and work on your e-Summer School course every school day. The e-Summer Sessions are super short (only four weeks to earn a full credit!) so try not to miss a single day. A day of e-Summer School is equivalent to a week of classes in a regular semester.

Come on out to William Lyon Mackenzie CI and meet your teacher! You'll learn all about your course, how to navigate D2L and have your questions about e-Summer School answered.

     Grade 10 and Grade 11 courses meet Wednesday, June 18th      Grade 12 courses meet Thursday, June 19th Teachers will be starting orientation sessions at 4:00, 4:30, 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. You may join any one of these 4 sessions. e-Learning Day School Mid Term Marks

We're halfway through semester two already! Students will receive their mid term marks from their teachers in their online classroom this week. Hard copy mid term report cards will be sent by internal board mail to students' TDSB day schools starting April 23, 2014. An important date to keep in mind is Full Disclosure on May 2nd. This is the last day to drop a Semester 2 e-Learning Day School course without academic penalty. To drop an e-Learning Day School course please visit your Guidance Counsellor and asked to be demitted from your course via e-Reg.

Single Sign On!

As of March 1, 2014 TDSB Desire2Learn users will have one less password to remember! TDSB teachers and students will now logon to D2L using their TDSB network password (that's the one they login to TDSB computers with). Due to major upgrades, D2L will not be available to TDSB staff and students on Friday, February 28, 2014.

e-Learning Day School students should check with their teachers to find out what assigned work they need to complete outside of the D2L learning environment. Really, you thought you'd have the day off? Uh, no. Carry on learning!

Does all this snow make you long for summer? It's really not that far away... Here at TDSB e-Learning we're getting ready for two amazing months of online classes in July and August. Check out the course offerings for our two summer sessions:

There are more than 40 different courses to choose from! Registration for e-Summer School is scheduled to start on April 1, 2014.

Orientation This Thursday!

e-Learning Day School students have the opportunity to meet their teacher face-to-face this Thursday,February 6th at York Mills Collegiate Institute (490 York Mills Road) at any time between 4 and 6 pm. During this mandatory "meet the teacher" session you'll find out all about your course, see demos of the online classroom and Adobe Connect web conferencing and much more! Don't miss out! Each orientation will take 20-30 minutes and be repeated throughout the evening. If you miss part of the orientation, just stay for the next session until the teacher comes to the part you started at. Here's the room schedule:

e-Learning Day School Semester 1 Exams

TDSB e-learning students write their face-to-face Semester 1 final exams on Monday, January 20 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at York Mills Collegiate Institute. Don't forget to bring photo id!

If you're writing a final exam, your home school has been asked by the e-Learning office to release you from your afternoon classes early enough for you to arrive at York Mills CI by 3:30 p.m.

If you have any questions about the exam, please DO NOT CONTACT YORK MILLS CI. Please contact us at the e-Learning Central Office. The exam room schedule is posted in the e-Learning News on your D2L My Home page and will also be posted at York Mills. And don't forget to read the exam information webpage.

e-Credit (18+) Trimester 2 Orientation

Enrolled e-Credit students have an opportunity to attend a Meet the Teacher Orientation on Thursday, December 12 at City Adult Learning Centre (1 Danforth Ave) between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. 

You'll meet your teacher, find out all about your course, see demos of the online classroom and Adobe Connect web conferencing and much more! Don't miss out!

Each orientation will take 20-30 minutes and be repeated throughout the two hours of the orientation.

We're rolling out another session of online learning for mature students! Trimester 2 classes start on Monday, December 9th. Enrolled students should check out our Starting Your Course and Orientation pages for all of the trimester start-up details.You will receive access to your Trimester 2 course by noon on the first day of classes. There are still spaces available, so if you're 18 years of age or over, not currently attending school full time and need to complete or upgrade credits, now's your chance! Can’t see a video, flash game or other media your teacher has posted in your Desire2Learn class? Over-zealous internet browser security settings may be preventing media from loading properly. To fix this issue you have to let your browser know that media on your course page is safe to display. 

 

Follow these browser security instructions and you'll be able to view course media in no time.

e-Credit 18+ Trimester 2 Registration Now Open

We're growing again! We've added many new courses to our e-Credit 18+ program offerings for upcoming Trimester 2:

 

Based on user feedback, we've added more courses that help students gain the prerequisites to further their educational goals. For example, successful completion of CHC2D allows student to take many of the senior social science, history and geography courses. MCF3M provides the pathway to many of the grade 12 math courses required for admission to certain apprenticeship and technology programs.   If you're an adult (18 years of age or over), not currently attending a publicly funded school full time and need a few more credits to graduate, follow the steps on our Registration page to request a Trimester 2 e-Credit 18+ course.

e-Learning Day School Semester 1 courses are filling up quickly. If you're a TDSB high school student and are interested in taking one of your courses online, please read all of the e-Learning Day School pages on this website and then log in to e-Reg using your TDSB student number and network password to make a course request. If you're under 18 you'll need your parent or guardian to complete the approval form you'll receive in your course request confirmation email. Then make sure you visit your guidance counsellor as soon as possible to request approval for your e-learning course request. You aren't enrolled in an e-learning course until you have your guidance counsellor's approval. Already enrolled in a Semester 1 e-Learning Day School course? Awesome! August e-Summer School Update

 

Students enrolled in the August e-Summer School session will receive their introductory course module on July 18th. This does not mean you are enrolled. On July 22nd all August session students must attend a face-to-face "Meet Your Teacher" orientation.

Students who attend the orientation will receive access to their course on the first day of August session classes, Wednesday July 24th.

Today is the First Day of July e-Summer School!

Enrolled students who have completed the orientation requirement will receive access to their D2L class today by 3 p.m.

If you have not attended a face-to-face or web conference orientation you will not gain access to your course. Contact your teacher as soon as possible to do a makeup orientation and then you will be placed in your online class.

Central e-Learning Day School 2013-2014 Registration Now Open 

Are you a senior TDSB high school student looking for the flexibility of taking one of your credits online? Registration is now open for semester 1 and semester 2 next year.

 

Please read all central e-Learning Day School pages of our website carefully before making a course request. New this year are MANDATORY after school face-to-face orientations and face-to-face final exams at a central TDSB location. Make sure you consult with your Guidance Counsellor about your learning options!

April 23, 2013 Having Trouble Registering?

If you're a TDSB student and you can't login to e-Reg to request an e-Summer School course, the problem is with your TDSB computer network password. You just need to ask an administrator or teacher at your school to reset your network password.  Once your TDSB computer network password is working, you'll be able to use e-Reg to sign-up for an e-Summer School course. Don't panic!

March 8, 2013 March Break Reminder Looking forward to March Break?  We hope all e-Learning students and teachers enjoy a much-deserved time of rest and relaxation! According to TDSB policy, no work can be assigned during the Mid-Winter Break from March 11-15. So while you might choose to get caught up on assignments or maybe get a head start on your culminating activity, officially it's what the name suggests. It's a break!


 

February 11, 2013 Blended Learning Opportunities for Teachers and Students Blended learning is a combination (or blend) of face-to-face and online learning. TDSB classroom teachers can now create online learning spaces with their face-to-face classes using the same provincial Learning Management System (LMS) that e-Learning teachers and students access.  Interested in learning more about blended learning? February 4, 2013 Change to Usernames < All TDSB e-Learning, e-Credit and Blended Learning students now use their 9 digit Trillium student number as their Username when logging into the online classroom:  http://tdsb.elearningontario.ca This is the same username all students use when logging into TDSB computers. No more underscores or upper case vs lower case issues to worry about anymore! Student passwords remain unaffected by this change to usernames. If any student needs a password reset they can call D2L Tech Support 24/7 at 1-877-325-7778.

 


 

January 25, 2013 We're Gearing Up for Semester 2! e-Learning Day School  For everything you need to know about getting started with e-Learning Day School check out the Starting Your Course page. Students should confirm their e-Learning Semester 2 enrollment with their Guidance Counsellor. e-Credit Course (18+) Semester 2 for e-Credit Course students starts of with mandatory face-to-face orientations next week. You'll get to meet your teacher and find out all about your course. You have a choice of two different evening for the orientation. Check out all the details on our e-Credit Course Program (18+) Orientation page.


 

January 16, 2013   Getting Ready for Semester 1 Exams

Day School e-Learning Students in grade 12 U and M level courses will be writing online final exams that are scheduled and supervised at their home school. Please check with your exam scheduling VP and with your e-Learning teacher to confirm your exam date and time.

e-Credit Course (18+) Students in grade 12 e-Credit Courses (all levels) will write an in person final exam at Central Technical School, room 210 on Tuesday, January 22 or Thursday, January 24 from 6:30-8:30. Photo-id is required. e-Credit teachers will let their students know when they are scheduled to write their exam.
