Applications for the Central Student Interest Programs (CSIP) for 2025/26 open on November 4th and close on November 22nd at 4:00pm. 

Welcome to the MSTU program at Jarvis! This program launched in 2024 for incoming Grade 9 students who want a focus in Math, Science, and Technology (digital arts and computer science) for YOU and your unique long term goals.

Students in the MSTU program will take eight courses as a cohort, and will have access to learning opportunities outside of the classroom. From the start, MSTUstudents will develop teamwork and bonding experiences through our Grade 9 “Camp Jarvis'' in September, and, the math, science and technology camp in Grade 10. Given our fantastic geographic location in the city, many field trips throughout the downtown core including teaching hospitals and research centres, leading universities and colleges as well as global corporations will be offered.  Additionally, MSTU students at Jarvis will have access to exclusive networking opportunities and exciting math and science contests.

The students in the MSTU program will be able to access other incredible opportunities such as:

  • Access to Math, Science and Computer Science contests
  • Networking opportunities with professionals and corporations
  • In school leadership development with Peer Leaders and Student Council,
  • Pathways to Advanced Placement (AP) courses and Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Business program
  • Enrichment opportunities to teach skills necessary to succeed in their chosen post secondary pathway
  • Recognizing student voice and choice 
  • Extracurricular clubs and teams

What does the program look like?

Core Courses in MSTU

Grade 9

  • MTH1WP (Math)
  • SNC1WP (Science)
  • CGC1WP (Geography)
    • All courses are mandatory and all students are cohorted together

Grade 10

  • MPM2DP (Math)
  • SNC2DP (Science)
    • All courses are mandatory and all students are cohorted together
  • TGJ2OP* (Communications Technology and the Skilled Trades) or ICD2OP* (Digital Technology and Innovations in the Changing World)
    • Students can take both if they want but only 1 is required

Note: as of 2024 incoming Grade 9 students must take a technology course in Grade 9 or 10 as a graduation requirement. MST students can choose the TGJ course in Grade 10, but they will be able to take TEJ1O1 (Computer Technology and the Skilled Trades) as their elective if they are considering the computer science pathway. Students are welcome to choose both technology courses.

Grade 11

  • Senior (Grade 11) Math
  • Senior (Grade 11) Science
  • Students are working toward their personal post-secondary pathway (university, college, apprenticeship, workplace) 
  • SHSM, Pre-AP (Pre-Advanced Placement), and Co-op opportunities available
  • Demonstrate leadership skills acquired through the program i.e. Peer Leadership, mentoring junior MSTU students

Grade 12

  • HSE4M1 (Equity and Social Justice) is highly recommended
  • Students do not have any compulsory courses
  • Students are working toward their personal post-secondary pathway (university, college, apprenticeship, workplace) 
  • SHSM, AP (Advanced Placement), and Co-op opportunities available
  • Demonstrate leadership skills acquired through the program i.e. Peer Leadership, mentoring junior MSTU students
