VISUAL ARTS, GRADE 10, OPEN (AVI2O)
1 Credit / 2 Hrs Daily
This course emphasizes learning through practice, building on what students know, and introducing them to new ideas, materials, and processes for artistic thinking and experimentation. Students will learn about how to apply the elements and principles of design, including the creative and design processes. Students will also learn about the connections between works of art and their historical contexts, including Canadian and European art. The course will focus on use of various types of media and artistic careers.
VISUAL ARTS, GRADE 11, OPEN (AVI3O)
1 Credit / 2 Hrs Daily
This course lets students broaden their knowledge and skills in the visual arts. Students create artworks that explore a range of subject matter and evaluate art by other artists. Students are encouraged to produce a body of creative work that represents a progressive record of studio development in both technique and expression. Students will examine historical and cultural contexts of Western art, Canadian art, and art from various world cultures.
