REGISTRATION FOR

NEW STUDENTS  

or STUDENTS AWAY FOR >5 YEARS

 

YOU ARE CONSIDERED "NEW" IF:

  • You have never attended an Ontario High School
  • You have been out of Ontario high schools, colleges and/or universities for more than 5 years

To register, you will need to book TWO DATES on our online registration form when it becomes available on March 4th at 10 am:

  1. Book one assessment date: you must complete an English and math assessment on:
    • March 19th, 21st or 25th at 9 AM (approx. 3 hours)
  2. Book one registration appointment on:
    • April 8th, April 9, April 10th (approx. 1 hour)

For assessment and registration, you must bring original copies of:

· Proof of Status:  proof of citizenship, permanent residency or refugee claimant status 

· Government issued picture identification

· If applicable, a transcript or Credit Counselling Summary / Ontario Student Status Report from an Ontario High School (if you have been in the Ontario school system)



ASSESSMENT INFORMATION:


How can I prepare for my assessment? 

  • English:  A minimum level of English is required to be able to attend SCAS.  Students should be able to recognize and read basic sentences and follow basic verbal instructions from teachers and staff.  Students who are below the basic literacy requirements to be successful are referred to first take beginner ESL classes such as those offered by the TDSB Adult ESL Program.
  • Math assessment:  Though the math assessment is required, there is no minimum math requirement.  You may review some sample assessments here: Math Assessment
