e-Credit Student Reflections 2012

"When I was a teenager, it was necessary for me to leave school. I was living on my own and I was working a full time job. Though I left, I always intended to go back. Over the years, I made a few attempts to return to school, but scheduling an education around a grown-up life is complicated. I could not guarantee that I would have the same time free on a weekly or daily basis. While correspondence education was available, it was almost impossible to conference with a teacher to ask a quick question, clarify an assignment or discuss ideas about work - something the classroom environment provided.

After almost 20 years, I knew that something important, the chance to complete my high school education, was becoming less likely. On the TDSB website, I found information on the E-Learning program. I decided to take a chance, and I am so glad I did.

E-Learning offers the flexibility of correspondence learning with the personalized attention of the classroom experience. The ability to email or chat with a teacher gives we, the students, the interactive learning experience that used to be reserved to a more scheduled style of education. The teachers have been more than supportive, adapting to the needs presented by my work and medical restrictions. Most importantly, I'm learning again, opening doors that had been firmly shut. I am so grateful for this program. It has allowed me to fulfill a very important goal. I look forward to finishing my high school diploma through the E-Learning program."
