Caring, Safe and Respectful

Caring, Safe & Respectful

Allergies- Parents and Pupils are expected to notify the Main Office:

  • If they have medical or allergy concerns;
  • of the location of their child’s allergy medication while at school;

We recognize that it is not possible to eliminate all possible allergens from the school environment but we request that all students, staff and parents cooperate to :

  • eliminate/reduce peanut and peanut products in our school. Peanut allergies can be highly lethal, in some cases resulting in anaphylactic shock.
  • Refrain from wearing perfume/cologne and other products that emit odours. Allergies to perfume and scents are often less dramatic but are direct causes of painful headaches and physical discomfort that impairs the wellness and performance of sufferers.

Eco Schools

George Harvey is not an official school, yet, but this does not prevent each of us to refrain from littering and to properly dispose of organics, recyclables and landfill.

Emergencies & Drills

Fire Alarm:

If the alarm sounds and you are not in your classroom under the direction of a teacher, leave the building from the nearest exit and report to a teacher.

Physical Education Program

For safety, students must be properly attired. A proper uniform consists of proper athletic footwear, a T-shirt and athletic shorts or pants.

Positive Space

All students should feel safe and welcome in all spaces in our school. At GHCI, the Guidance & CYW Offices and Admin Offices are designated as Positive Spaces as is Room 25.

Street Safety

Enjoying the outdoors and visiting merchants is good but not when we are less than safe. Be mindful to obey traffics rules and signals; be respectful of children and the elderly; and if playing sports, do so on the field and not the front lawn- weather and field surface permitting.

Textbooks and Equipment

These are the property of George Harvey and the TDSB. Please keep them in good condition for the next person and to avoid being charged for damage or replacement cost.

Valuables

If you value it, leave it at home. If you bring it to school, don’t leave your valuables unattended. Change rooms and lockers are NOT secure spaces for your valuables. Never bring cash, electronic devices, smart phones, jewellery etc to the change rooms. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
