Grade 4 & 5

Welcome to Grade 4 & 5

The Grade 4 program at Kennedy encourages students to take greater ownership of their learning. Building on prior knowledge, students strengthen their reading, writing, and math skills through more complex tasks that promote critical thinking and problem-solving. In science and social studies, inquiry-based learning helps them explore the world around them and understand broader global connections. The program integrates the arts, technology, and physical education to support creativity, collaboration, and overall well-being. At Kennedy, Grade 4 students develop independence, confidence, and a deeper curiosity about the world.

The Grade 5 program at Kennedy focuses on expanding students’ academic and social skills as they prepare for the junior grades. Students engage in rich reading and writing experiences that strengthen communication and analytical thinking, while math lessons encourage reasoning and real-world application. Science and social studies units foster inquiry, exploration, and an understanding of social responsibility. Through the arts, physical education, and technology, students express creativity and work collaboratively. At Kennedy, Grade 5 learners are guided to become thoughtful, responsible, and engaged members of their school community.
