Friday, October 4, 2019

On Monday we recognized Orange Shirt Day.  I extend a special thank you to Mr. Mahoney for preparing a meaningful reading that allowed us all to gain better understanding of the historical context of the Land Acknowledgement.  I thank our student readers for their participation.  Thank you to the many staff and students who wore orange on Monday.

Tuesday’s workshop on ‘How to Apply to College/University’ was well attended by parents and guardians.  Thank you to Ms. Zappone, Curriculum Leader of Student Services, for providing this opportunity.

On Wednesday night, we held our Grade 9 Curriculum Night and ESL Information Session.  We had a good turnout of parents, guardians and students.  I would like to thank all curriculum leaders and the many teachers who attended and made the evening so successful.  Congratulations to our symphonic band and Ms. Kiousis for their first musical performance of this school year.  Thank you to our student volunteers and the student leaders of Student Council, Athletic Council and Music Council who made presentations and represented York Mills so well.

Saturday, October 5 is World Teacher Day!  Thank you to our teachers for all that they do!
